FIVE FINGER MOUNTAINS:
Many storys told about Besparmak mountains ,which extend to the coast of Girne , like a symbol of the island . The mountains have a friendly chat , through the Mediterranean with the Toros Mountains of the Anatolian coast acrross it , about which also many legens have been told . The most known legend about Besparmak Mountains tells about the heroes of a love triangle. Rumos say that , Besparmak Mountains Rose with all its majesty in the memory of a love of battle that ended with death .
Once upon a time , a very beautiful girl lived on the island . And there were two boys who were in love with this girl . One of the boys was both handsome and good ; other one was evil and treacherous .
Evil has a unique force of course and sometimes it is more attractive than the good . This boy had a strong attractive ness too. So the girl wasn't able to chose one of them . At last the boy decided to fight to come to conclusion . The winner would live the happy end . the day came . The two strong and handsome boys went to the side of a swamp and drew their swords .Both them were good at using swords. The evil boy was the first to hurt the other .The good boy got angry attacked like a wounded lion to the evil.They found in the middel of the swamp . And the good boy killed the evil. With the pride of victory he held up his arm , with his sword in his hand . But he was so drunk with the joy of happiness that he didn't realize that he was sinking in the swamp.Because he got very tired in the battle and lost blood ,he felt himself weak.
He understood that it was too late to try to get out of the swamp . he dropped his sword while he was sinking more and more .But he was still holding his arm up, as as symbol of his victory .In a short time the only thing seen above the swamp was his hand . Then , everything was dumpfounded ,the swamp was his hand . then everything was dumpfounded ,the swamp got higher anf became a mountain . At the peak there were five hills consisting of the five fingers of the good boy .The story of the Besparmak Mountains ,rising in the memory of a battle of love without a winner , may be far from being real be sure that it will make your journey to the mountains more interesting.
